Introduction Thumbprint

MultiRent has introduced the tumbprint per July 20. To help protect our customers and to safeguard ourselves against fraud, we may ask you to provide us with a thumbprint.

Fraud prevention

The thumbprint is an additional tool of fraud protection. The positive results at Airport Stansted in London and Schiphol Airport show that the tumbprint is an effective tool against fraud.

How does it work?
You will be asked to provide your thumbprint on top of the rental-agreement, which will be made unreadable once you have returned your hired vehicle. Only if the vehicle is not returned or a serious offence is committed, will the rental-agreement be passed on to the authorised law enforcement bodies, such as the police or border security. In this way fraudulent car rental, for example by supplying false name or address details, will be exposed. We will protect your privacy at all times whilst guarding you against potential problems such as false accusations or fraud in your name.

Will I be left with ink stains on my thumb?
We use a specially designed, inkless gel that will not stain and is easily removed from hands or clothes. You will be asked to press your thumb on the gel pad and then press the thumb onto a piece of paper. Our desk representative will be happy to help and will have tissues handy so you can clean your hands.

We would like to thank you for your co-operation and support in our efforts to prevent fraud. If you have any further questions, please contact our head office by Email (info@multirent.nl) or phone (0031 (0) 172 - 44 79 80) or the press department of the BOVAG: 0900 269 22 68.
